Some parts of the track needed a little bit of work after recent weather events.

Later in the day, the foggy ascent to Luxmoore Saddle (just over 1400m).

Me at the peak of Mt. Luxmoore. Instead of panoramic 360 degree views, visibiliy of a few metres.

The start of the spectacular alpine ridge-walking section of the Kepler Track.

Photo
Two fellow trampers up ahead on the ridge (see those two specks?).

Photo
At the end of the second day, the alpine crossing, the track extends to the knob (just left of centre) for a panoramic view. Then the track descends the zig-zag (visible in the photo) back below the tree line.

Fog sits over a clearing (Iris Burn Hut location) in the Iris Burn valley on the morning of the third day.

Photo
Kiwi footprints! Kiwis are nocturnal and extremely elusive. Even the hut warden/ranger hadn't seen a kiwi in the area (though she had heard them), so a photo of their tracks on the nearby beach was the best I could do.

One of several species of carnivorous (insect-eating, thankfully) sundew.

Photo
The forest on the fourth day was full of unbelievable fungi.

The Waiau River.

Photo
Rains hit the Kepler Track just as I leave the track and return to Te Anau.

Dinner in Te Anau with new friends -- from Germany, South Africa, the U.K., and Australia -- made on the track.
