| Geared up (thank you, MEC) and ready to go.
| Beech forest on the first day.
| Some parts of the track needed a little bit of work after recent weather events.
| Limestone bluffs.
| A view of the Te Anau basin (and several mountain ranges) after clearing the tree line (about an 800m climb).
| Luxmoore Hut
| Sunrise over Fiordland (from Luxmoore Hut)
| Later in the day, the foggy ascent to Luxmoore Saddle (just over 1400m).
| Me at the peak of Mt. Luxmoore. Instead of panoramic 360 degree views, visibiliy of a few metres.
| Fog rising ...
| Surveying the track ahead.
| The start of the spectacular alpine ridge-walking section of the Kepler Track.
| Two fellow trampers up ahead on the ridge (see those two specks?).
| At the end of the second day, the alpine crossing, the track extends to the knob (just left of centre) for a panoramic view. Then the track descends the zig-zag (visible in the photo) back below the tree line.
| A view of South Fiord from the track.
| Alpine flora.
| The dramatic and abrupt tree line.
| Fog sits over a clearing (Iris Burn Hut location) in the Iris Burn valley on the morning of the third day.
| Kiwi footprints! Kiwis are nocturnal and extremely elusive. Even the hut warden/ranger hadn't seen a kiwi in the area (though she had heard them), so a photo of their tracks on the nearby beach was the best I could do.
| Iris Burn waterfall.
| The Big Slip (caused by heavy rains)
| Lots o' ferns.
| Ou sont les Schtroumpfs?
| Sunset over Lake Manapouri (the serene setting for Moturau Hut).
| Mountain orchids
| Coral fungus.
| The multi-coloured lichen of Amoeboid Mire.
| One of several species of carnivorous (insect-eating, thankfully) sundew.
| The forest on the fourth day was full of unbelievable fungi.
| The Waiau River.
| Rains hit the Kepler Track just as I leave the track and return to Te Anau.
| Dinner in Te Anau with new friends -- from Germany, South Africa, the U.K., and Australia -- made on the track.
